Reaching Out From the Edge

This tree was reaching towards the light at the edge of a small woodland.
I use salt to create texture. I paint a wash of watercolor, then sprinkle salt into it. After it dries I rinse it off and end up with a beautiful pattern that hints at lichen and bark. You can see it here on the trunk of the tree.
