Norway Spruce
Norway spruce trees, Picea abies, are a now ubiquitous part of my landscape. Planted heavily in the 1930s, their tall trunks and pendulous branches stand out in the landscape of New York and Pennsylvania. They are one of the trees that form the "vernacular" of my art. The visual language of my paintings.
Aspen
When people think of aspen trees, they think of Colorado. However Aspen are common throughout the northern US. Here in NY we have two species, Populous tremuloides, quaking aspen, and Populous grandidentata, the big tooth aspen. They freely hybridize so it's more of a spectrum of traits that you can pick out when looking at them. Aspen groves are clones of a single seedling, and are either male or female. Their white barked trunks make up another part of my landscape vernacular.
*The price on both aspen paintings is $3000. Use Coupon Code TWO ASPEN at checkout for the discount.
