"Big Ass Gnarled Oak (On the River Trail)"

Metallic silver and Prussian blue gouache on paper over canvas, sealed and wrapped in aluminum

I walk by this oak constantly on my favorite trail along the Allegheny River near my apartment. At some point early in its life, the mail leader trunk was snapped off, probably during a storm. The tree has healed and its convoluted form reaches out over the river. I really love it. Resiliance probably would have been a better title but I had stayed up until 3am painting it and my titles got a bit blue. Like the art.
