Spruces at the Edge of Town

These spruce trees are on the edge of town in Ellicottville NY right off route 219, This painting includes three things that I love to paint... Aspen, Spruce Trees, and weirdly, the dead lower branches of spruces and pines. There's something about those lines.
Anyway, you'll see elements that I'm attacted to in many of the pieces this year. They're sort of my vernacular for this landscape that I love. You'll see other things in coming paintings, especially oak and maple trees. 
Anyway I love the depth in this piece, and the sky! The sky is actually slightly irridescent. In person it shimmers slightly.
