Spring and whatnot

Hi! Here I am writing a blog after being sure that I would keep writing but realizing it's been a few months. Whoopsie.

Winter was weird, I let myself get overwhelmed and very burned out. Plus we had an absolutely savage winter this year. Glad it's over. I probably needed more vitamin D and excercise. Also a new president.

Anywho here I am, back writing something.

You may have noticed by Grisaille Studies, hope you have checked them out. They were the most fun I've had making art in the last few years. My process had gotten a bit overwhelming. With the layered masking, a lot of my paintings just don't work out. And I don't find that out until the last step. It's brutal, disheartening, and now that the masking fluid is $60 for 16oz, kind of getting unaffordable. I'm hoping the Grisaille Studies (I'm really proud of this fancy/slightly pretentious name lol) act like a bridge to new work that is more painterly. We shall see if people react well to them.

Also I turned 50. That was odd. My friends and girlfriend were amazing and me feel very, very loved.

Hope you liked the new art, and maybe I'll see you around this summer at a show or at my studio
